This award-winning project involved the restoration of a severely dilapidated Grade C listed tenement in Campbeltown. Funded by the local Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) and the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), we were appointed to initially undertake a feasibility study and options appraisal, before then forming the design team to prepare a Conservation Management Plan and undertake the design work, together with procurement and contract administration.
The project involved a detailed assessment of the fabric and structure of the building in order to identify those parts that could be saved, together with the removal of defective cement renders and replacement with lime harling.
Client: The owners association, 60 Main Street
Our role: Surveyor
An attractive Grade C listed tenement, this had fallen into disrepair and was targeted by the Townscape Heritage Initiative for funding to repair and conserve.
We were appointed to undertake a survey of the building and prepare specifications for the sensitive repair and improvement, together with obtaining competitive tenders and administrating the contract between the contractor and client. Research using historical records was undertaken to identify a suitable colour to the façade and an appropriate paint material.
